Cindy and Cindy II two different crews?
-

Can anyone tell me if Cindy and CindyII were two entirely different crews, or was CindyII the replacement for the original Cindy? Thanks.

Nathan.. I think you mean two different AIRCRAFT rather than crews. And yes, it was [ possible for two different aircraft to be named Cindy and Cindy II...usually Cindy II would be named by the same ground crew that was originally assigned to Cindy and had the replacement aircraft then named Cindy II. According to 320thbg.org, Cindy was a B-26 S/N 41-17853. Cindy was converted to a transport, and later crashed. They don't give a date. Cindy the II was S/N 42-107556, and downed by flak on 11/8/44. Both aircraft were in the 444th Bomb Squadron. The site does not list a roster for the crews of the aircraft. http://320thbg.org/b-26_serial_numbers.html Have you checked with the 320th Association to see if anybody can answer your question for you? http://320thbg.org/320th_reunion_assoc.html

Thanks Anne, I can only find one photo labelled Cindy in the web, and since the information under the pilot's window and tail cannot be seen, I can't tell which of the two planes it is. I know who the crew of Cindy II was. A cousin of mine was killed when Cindy II was hit by flak in a bombing run on a bridge at Casale Monferrato, Italy on Nov 8, 1944. The plane went down with all hands. Now that I know the correct Serial Number for Cindy II, I can start looking in other places. I absolutely missed the page with the serial numbers when I looked at the 320th site. Thanks for looking!!!! Nathan
