China-bound - 11/13/2007 06:07:15 PM
For the China-Burma-India crew and family members out there -- I'm headed to China in January. We will be in Hsian (now Xi'an), where there were many 14th Air Force airmen. I understand the airfield is no more -- now just factories. However, I have been in touch with the Pentagon and have received coordinates. Also, I understand from some Flying Tigers who visited recently that the city walls remain intact, where there once was a checkerboard pattern that aided in landing. My husband and I will certainly be having a moment of silence for my Dad, Lt. James R. Smith, and I will be happy to take with me mental pictures, mementoes, thoughts, wishes, prayers, whatever, from any of you. Please let me know if you have airmen you'd like to honor. We'll keep them in our thoughts and send photos to you.

Best wishes to all --

Alisa Williams
