Celistial Navigation Training - 08/10/2008 08:40:58 AM
In looking at aerial photos and base maps of the B-29 Training Fields here in Kansas  there are 4 Silo Type structures some 45 feet tall and 24 diam. hexagon shaped that are listed as the Celistial Training Facilities.  In looking at a l944 aviation catalog they show a picture of the inside of the structures and the Link Company supplied the equipment. My question is did any one out there instruct in these facitilies? Maybe some of you Flight Crew Members can tell us about the navigation instruction that was given in these. In reading the sales material they depicted the 380 stars of the Northern  Hemisphere and had a capacity to train 4 at the same time.  All related info would help in the history of these structures.  Phillip
