C47 crash at Gibraltar - 11/13/2004 10:30:27 PM
I am searching for information regarding my Father's plane that went down on November 11, 1942 at Gibraltar during the invasion of North Africa. He was in the 18th Squadron of the 64 TCG. His group left England on 11-10-42 at night landing at Gibraltar. His name is Posie Clinton. Apparently, they were carrying British Paratroopers. His plane went down shortly after take off.

Hi I am new to the site and have tried to send you an email but not sure if you have received. I am sure that my partners father F/Sgt A C Mack was the navigator on this flight. We have his log book so please email for details.

JackieB,

I've tried 3 emails to you.  I'm not sure if you received them.  I would love to know if your partner's Father was truly on this flight.  I got your message on my answering machine.  I will call if I don't receive an email from you.

Thanks,

Ellie
daughter of Capt. Posie Clinton, 27th ATG and 64th TCG

HI Ellie

Great to be in touch, no I didnt receive your emails sorry.
Ians father was Flight Sergeant Arthur Mack and he was the navigator.
His log book shows several entries for flights with lt P M Clinton as the pilot from USAA Corps 64th group 18 Squadron. A flight for 10 November 1942 shows take off from St Eval for Gibraltar and  on the 11th a flight which says "crashed in sea of Gibraltar rescued by HSL" The plane was C47 No 117856.

We would love to hear any more details you may have about this incident.

Many thanks Jackie & Ian
