Hi, Here is another photo same event ,looking towards stage. Others with him ,no I.D.s . I think the first man is B.E. Hopkins but not sure.

Hello all,

Another pic from the same event showing Bairnsfather with his daughter Barbara Littlejohn.I meet her in the UK several years ago and she kindly signed the photo, but no memories of Chelveston to share.

Hello All,

In the forward to "No Kiddin'!" by Bruce Bairnsfather, Curtis Le May writes on 26 June 1944 that "He was made the only Honorary Member of the Group"

The photos posted here were all taken 21 August 1943 when Bairnsfather was made an honorary member of the 305th B G which can be read in the lower right corner of the certificate.

Bairnsfather remained at Chelveston until mid 1944 when he ceased contributing to Stars & Stripes, although he did spend time away. "Subsequently had cause to regret this,for after a prolonged absence he returned to find himself charged by a mock Court martial for being A.W.O.L. He was found guilty and sentenced to stay on base for the duration"
