Tetsuya, I did not find a reference for Currior or Burtholomow as bombardiers. I did find Ransler as a graduate of Midland, TX class MI 44-11. Can you recheck your data, so we can verify our accuracy? Thanks! Dave

Tetsuya, you are referring to the Schofield crew. 2Lt Ransler was the only survivor. What else have you been able to discover about this crew?

Tetsuya and others, To tweak the information posted a little about the crew listing: 1st Lt John L. SCHOFIELD AC 0-742215 2nd Lt. James E. BAKER P 0-831082 2nd Lt. Donald L. BARTHOLOMEW* Nav 0-2060454 1st Lt. Joseph G. CURRIER B 0-1039445 2nd Lt. Warren H. RANSLER** Radar 0-2068119 M/Sgt Robert E. HARTRICH Flt Eng 14054450 S/Sgt Anthony SCOLARO* Radio 16078862 Sgt. Archer S. KRONICK CFC 42121434 Sgt. Francis J. VOGOLA RG 42031485 Sgt. Bertram L. WARE LG 33898131 Sgt. Henry L. YOUNGE* TG 42031151 * Prisoners at Tokyo Kempei Tai Headquarters and transferred to the Tokyo Military Prison on 9 May and were killed during the Massacre on 25-26 May 1945. SCOLARO had evaded capture for several days after their B-29 went down. ** RANSLER evaded capture until 4May and was held at smaller satellite Kempei prison. He was transferred to Tokyo Kempei Tai Headquarters on 26 May. He was a cellmate of Fiske HANLEY II (author of "Accused American War Criminal") from the 26th until they both were shipped to (POW) Camp Omori on the morning of 15 August, then liberated on 29 August 1945. Camp Omori was just a few miles from Headquarters, located in Tokyo Bay on reclaimed land. SCOLARO had also been a cellmate of HANLEY's, at Kempei Tai Hdqts., until transfer to Tokyo Military Prison of 9 May. He was one of the 62- 65 POWs taken from Headquarters to the prison. The rest of the crew were KIA Sources: 19th BG History and Roster published Sept 1945 19th BG materials from Maxwell AFB (official records) Fiske Hanley's book, which includes the affidavits from the POWs by the Special Prosecutor of the Kempei Tai war criminals My interest in this crew, as well as the circumstances involved at the POW camp(s) is because my brother, 1st Lt Robert McDONALD, AC, and his crew, along with an observer, were also lost on this same mission. The SCHOFIELD crew was with the 30th BS and my brother was attached to the 93rd BS--both of the 19th BG. Nancy Reynolds
