B24 42-41183 Hells Belle 1Lt Frank Weldon
-

Hi, I am looking for more detailed information about the plane and crew of the B24 42-41183 "Hells Belle" piloted by 1Lt Frank Weldon. The plane was shot down over Wiener Neustadt on the 2nd November 1943. I am looking especially for a photo of the plane or the crew for the illustration of the new edition of my book "Bomben auf Wiener Neustadt". The book (1.100 pages, 600 pics) was puplished in 2005 and sold out within two months. Now I looking to reedit the book once again. Thanks Max

Thanks Daniel, The photo in the book is same as your version 3, third photo. It is much sharper than your copy but is cluttered up with overlays by the book's editors so is partially obscured. Either way, it's not the one Max is looking for so I won't bother to post it. Hal

I list two B-24s in the 98th named "Hell's Bells". 42-41183, a "D" model with Frank Weldon as pilot (KIA) lost on 11-02-1943 Coordinates 46.50 degrees N., 16.15 degrees E. I find the following crewmembers on my 2002 membership roster, BUT NOT on my 2005 roster. Owen R. Webb Emilio Colangelo William Ghiz If you would like their last known address, Email me at BOMBGRP98@aol.com herb harper

im not sure if this helps, i just signed on here to help if i can. i was actually looking for more info on that aircraft also, and happened across this post. now i understand, that this is from a while ago, but maybe someone still needs info. i found a photo while going through my stuff since moving, and its of the hells belle in version 2 of the photos for that particular aircraft which some have posted. what may help is that on the back, its written that the photo was taken in new guinea, so if that helps any, im glad. i only have my laptop up running since moving, but if i get a chance or if anyone needs, when i get the scanner hooked up, i can post it or email it. its only of the nose artwork.
