B-17G Nose aerial 8thAF,Third Air Division

From November 1944 Third Air Division were using Micro-H radar bombing . If you view photos of B-17Gs there is a large stub aerial between the Captains windshield and the astrodome slightly offset. Was this part of Micro-H or some other form of radar navigation ? Very little information available in B-17 books can anybody help ??

Need confirmation but reckon aerial relates to AN/APR-4 an airborne search receiver with the aerial AT-38/APT, 29 inches long. Used to intercept enemy radar and communications signals.
This was the start of ELINT and curious why 8th Air Force Third Air Division B-17s only seemed to be so fitted ?

Now convinced the aerial is a AN-104A  32"x3"x1"  used for a Command radio set  SCR 522. The aerial was nicknamed "axe handle" because of its shape . Now why were only B-17Gs of the 8thAF Third Air Division so equipped with them . The aerial was directly on the captains nose coaming between the cockpit and the nose astrodome ?
