B-17 escort 13 September 1944 - 09/08/2007 02:16:25 PM
Two P-51's escorted a crippled 92nd Bomb Group B-17 bomber to an airfield in Belgium 13 September 1944. Could they have been from the 20th Fighter Group. Any info welcome

Unlikely to be the 20th.  On the 13th the 20th was flying a mission from Piryatin, Russia escorting returning bombers from target in Miscolez Hungary back to Italy .  The 20th then flew on to land at Foggia Italy.  This was one of the “FRANTIC” missions
