Adam, No luck to date. I really need teh A/C serial number of the name of a crew member to track down. 452d BG Association confirms there was an A/C with taht name, but can't give any other details. Howard

Howard, where can I see mission reports from Feb 1945. I'm looking for missions on 19 and 20 Feb. 1945. If this Ready Teddy I'm looking for is the same one that belonged to the 452nd, this B-17 had a clash a sea during that time frame and was condemed for overseas according to writing from the back of a picture that I have. Thanks, Adam

Adam, From my research I can find in the 452d Historical Files for February 1945 a picture of A/C #165 that had crash landed on 20 February 1945. The crew for A/C 165 was: P - 2Lt Louis Ray CP - 2Lt Morgan Childs N - F/O Kenneth Strong TOG -- Sgt Andrew Bestram TT - Sgt Robert Bowen RO - Sgt Albert Ginsberg BT - Sgt James Long WG - Sgt Robert Frank TG - Sgt Walter Kellogg Hope this is what you are looking for. If you can determine the complete serial number for A/C 165, please advise. Thank you, Howard

Howard - B-17 # 44 - 6165 O+ " Lady Gay " 452d BG , 730th Sq. After some checking in Freeman's Book , this B-17 was transferred to 96th BG 12/12/44. I checked all other B - 17 Serials that end in 165 and none match. Could be Typos? Found # 42 - 102615 452d BG Over ran Runway 2/17/45 ??????????? Mike

Howard, #165 may not be the AC I'm looking for. I will attach the back of pic I have. I could be looking the wrong BG. I know this Ready Teddy does not belong to the 92BG which had 2 of them. Thanks, Adam

Adam, In re-looking at the photos I do not think the A/C is from the 452d BG. In all the photos I have seen of the 452d BG none are of a crew in t-shirts. The nose art of the A/C in the 452d BG is listed as "Reddy Teddy" vice "Ready Teddy." Going back to the way the crew is dressed tells me they may be operating out of a tropical area. Is there a way to find out what groups operated out of warm or tropical areas? Edit: Correct spelling

Howard, I'm not sure of where else these pictures where taken. From what my aunt told me my uncle was in England somewhere. I do have another picture of my uncle and buddies that was taken in Dakaar, Africa in 1945. No specific date. Ready Teddy was condemned by Feb of 1945. They could of just been passing through. Could there have been a bomber group or squadron that went from England to South Africa as a temporary duty? I will go back and see my aunt and question her some more. Adam

Adam, What is the name of your Uncle and about what time was your Uncle in England. If you are able to provide I will search the 452d Historical Files for the name. Thank you, Howard
