ORIGINAL: Alex Smart Hi, Details of the losses in August of 44 welcome. Pilots names please also. Alex Alex, I´d like to help you but there´s not too many infos on 14th FG on Internet. I got a question as well- do you know the target of the mission flown by 14thFG on August 29,1944, if ever?

Roman Susil Zlin, Czech Republic ...a friend of Joe Owsianik, a former left waist gunner from B-17G ''Tail End Charlie" from 2ndBG,20th Sqdn, that was forced to bail out on Aug. 29th, 1944 over my country.

Possibly this information concerning 29 AUG 1944 will be of interest: (Fifteenth Air Force):550 bombers strike targets in Italy, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Yugoslavia; in Italy, communications targets in the Po Valley and railway bridges at Ferrara, Salzano, and Ferrara; in Czechoslovakia, oil refineries and communications targets in the Silesian Plain, including the Bohumin area, steel works and marshalling yard, Moravska-Ostrava marshalling yard, oil refineries and industrial area including, tank works, and marshalling yards; in the Hungarian Plain, marshalling yards at Szolnok and Szeged, and a railway bridge at Szeged; and in Yugoslavia, a railway bridge at Borovnica; P-38s bomb Latisana Bridge, Italy.

come on ;) this is very well know source of info on internet. Roman is not any beginner in the search for data about August 29, 1944 mission. He can add I bed two pages more details of who flew where and in what numbers that this short paragraph:) I think that the question was pretty interesting and well pointed to 14FG presence (if any) and mission objective on Augut 29, 1944. I think Narrative Mission report or 15AF mission report would say more... Anyone out there with the specific answers and info??

August 29, 1944 enjoy:) off topic, sorry Alex Hi Peter, even though in all the publications published by Slavicin there´s writen that no records about P-38´s presence in the battle on Aug 29, 1944 are available, today I know that 14th and 1st were there, see also http://forum.armyairforces.com/m_134700/tm.htm As you sure know some of the eye witnesses speak about 'Fork Tail Devills' perhabs shooting down Hansotto Nehls Bf109G-6AS. So my question is- if some of the pilots from 1st or 14th got a credit, there must be some written record. So where to start-combat record? And where could I get it? I guess we spoke about it already, but I´ve 4got...One month ago my daughter was born, now the Xmas mess all around :)
