Any 445th BG Members Here? - 07/15/2006 02:25:22 AM
I am new to this site and pretty impressed by what I have seen and read. I am thinking about writing a paper for a historical research class this upcoming Fall on a mission flown by the 445th BG on September 27th of 1944 against the Tiger tank factory near Kassel, Germany. I would like to know if any of the members here might have been with the group at the time? I would also like to hear from anyone from any of the other groups that participated in this mission as well. Thanks in advance for any help and I sure am glad to be aboard.

Sorry for being so late in responding - haven't been keeping up with the boards lately.  Bill Dewey was one of 4 pilots who made it back to Tibenham on 27 Sept 44.  His email address is KMMAONE@AOL.COM.  He created and maintained (until last year) the Kassel Mission Memorial Association.  That association has now shifted over to the Kassel Mission Historical Society, run by his daughter.  Their website is at www.KasselMission.com.  They should be able to put you in touch with the survivors.  Make sure you have a virus protection program running, because Norton picked uo on a 'downloader' virus on the website.  I'm contacting the webmaster now to let them know.

Glad to see you posted here, too, and that MIke was able to help you. Did you ever get in touch with Bill Dewey, my dad? He passed away in March. I hope he was able to help you last Fall.

Hi Nathan,
How is Mr. Cieslega? He has been a member of the Kassel Mission organization, although he was not on that particular mission. He lives near me, in Michigan. We haven't heard from him in a while. Is he okay?
