Aircrew Information - 03/20/2008 06:31:45 PM
I have MACR 10009 covering the loss of aircraft B-24J 44-40631 on 22 November 1944.  This MACR was received from Maxwell AFB and is very hard to read.  Would anyone happen to have the names of the aircrew members on this aircraft.  The eyewitness statements are legible, I just can't make out the names of the crewmembers.  Thanks in advance for any information.

Randy,

Have come up empty handed at all the alternate sources I could think of.  Do you think you could scan just the portion that has the names at as high a resolution possible and post it here?  Maybe somebody can pull something out of the haze.  Or is it just so totally muddied up that it is impossible to even make a guess?  Can you read the serial numbers of the crew?  If so, can search the NARA listings for the enlisted men anyway.  Interestingly aviationarchaeology lists it in their MACR data base but not their chronologic listings.  Gives no pilot name.  Accident-report doesn't have it listed anywhere that I could find.  Pyramidiers web site no help, but maybe Herb Harper on this site can help, try a PM.  Also the Pyramidiers site shows Mark Kurth as the present historian, email MARK109fqk@AOL.COM

Herb:  These four names are accurate. They are buried together at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky and I can now make out their names on the MACR.  The other names appear to be as listed below but I am not 100% sure.

Kendrick, Charles B, SSgt
Stegall, Kenneth R, SSgt
Miles, Clyman J, SSgt
Stallen, Wilson G Jr, Sgt
Trifen, Norman Sgt
