Aircraft # 42-7554 flown by Lt John H Allen, 2 Dec 1943 - 08/12/2008 10:11:31 AM

I am trying to find out more information surrounding the crash of this aircraft. I have the MACR but there are no eyewitness statements and it appears this MACR was prepared "after the fact". I have also looked at the Combat Chronology on this site to try and determine mission destinations for the 8th AF for that day, and there is no mention of the 8th AF for 2 Dec 1943. Have also been to the 445bg website with no luck there. Thanks to anyone who could share more information.

Hi Randy,

Project Bits and Pieces shows this plane to be "Tail End Charlie" but doesn't list the crew or the reason for the failure to return. I think you may have a typo in the date--should be 22 Dec 1943.
