Air-Sea Rescue, June 10, 1945

I am looking for information on the Air-Sea rescue of two crewmen 15 miles south of Tokyo on June 10, 1945 from the 30thBS, 19thBG, B-29, 42-63567, "The City of Providence". MACR 14614. The were flying on the 20th AF mission no. 199. Seven men were observed to get out of the aircraft before a wing burned off. Six parachutes were seen open and one man was falling with a parachute failure. Nine of the crew are still MIA. The men rescued were bombardier 2Lt. Pickens C. Talley of Florida and gunner Sgt. Philip R. Nolan from New York. Does anyone know who picked them up? Army Air-Sea, Navy Air-Sea Rescue, Navy submarine on life guard duty? If so do you know the type of aircraft used or the submarine's name? Was a dumbo B-17 or B-29 involved? I've been trying other websites to find possible Navy info on the rescue to no avail. Thank you, Patrick McKeon

Good Morning, Patrick I did see where both named men have passed away. However. If you can locate the families they may have records or logs kept by them. Philip R. Nolan b 1 Dec 1925 d 9 Dec 1996 Albany, Ny buried in St Mary's Cemetery - 237 Main St S - Glens Falls, NY Pickens C. Talley b 29 Mar 1919 d 9 April 1993 Panama City FL no burial site given I located the families of my brother's crew by the IDPF,local libraries, etc. Many times the information will be found within the family. And cemeteries will have family names of contact. Good Luck Regards
