“Air to Air” and “Air to Ground” Combat footage (videos)

The purpose of this thread is to collect and store combat videos of this nature here. This purpose is dual in nature:
1st to document for those who served so honorably!
2nd to document for those who did not serve, so that we may learn and not forget the sacrifices of those who did...
"If one has a question or comment please respectfully post it elsewhere on the forum."

If possible, identify the video by event or news reel name with brief description, then post the video, “example below”. Please attempt to identify the Theater of Operation, not necessarily the Theater of War as this can lead to confusion. Generally the film footage will give this information. [All Theaters of Operation are welcome]

Hopefully this will create a video archive in the forum for future reference.

Respectfully,
Scott M.

B-17 flying fortress fights off fighters En route to target [no date or theater given.]
I believe the first voices you hear is Clark Gable, he also speaks later in the film, others join in later “another side of the war effort” Hollywood voice talk over’s on a combat film. I’ve also added an unedited film clip of his service during WW II. Another way of keeping the home front safe and secure.

The "Mighty Eighth" in action; starting with the U-boat pens near Bremen Germany, the British narrator does a pretty good job of naming other targets for a time frame. [Film date not given]

1943 The Low-Altitude Bombing of the Ploesti Oil Fields
Mix of Allied and German rarely seen color footage.
Sunday, Aug. 1, 1943. The Liberators started their long flight from airfields in Northern Africa. The low-altitude (to avoid German advanced Radar equipped line of defense) bombing of the Ploesti Oil Fields (Romania) was deemed a success, even though 54 of the 177 bombers that took part were lost, and 53 more were heavily damaged. The refineries output was greatly curtailed, and five Medals of Honor were awarded, the most for any single American military action.

TURNING POINT IN THE PACIFIC WAR
14 April 1943, the US naval intelligence effort, code-named "Magic", intercepted and decrypted a message containing specific details regarding Yamamoto's tour, including arrival and departure times and locations, as well as the number and types of planes that would transport and accompany him on the journey. Yamamoto, the itinerary revealed, would be flying from Rabaul to Ballalae Airfield, on an island near Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, on the morning of 18 April 1943.

U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox to "Get Yamamoto." Knox instructed Admiral Chester W. Nimitz of Roosevelt's wishes. Admiral Nimitz consulted Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr., Commander, South Pacific, then authorized a mission on 17 April to intercept Yamamoto's flight en route and shoot it down.. Squadrons of Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft were assigned the task as only they possessed the range to intercept and engage. Select pilots from three units were informed that they were intercepting an "important high officer" with no specific name given.

Selected members of the USAAF from THE 339TH, 70TH and 12TH Fighter Squadrons were tasked with this mission. The specific objective was to shot down Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto being transported via “Betty" bomber. To reach their target these pilots would be pushing their Lightning’s to the limits of its range.

These USAAF P-38 lightning’s Accomplish the Impossible; by eliminating Japan’s greatest naval strategists. (Footage from both sides included)

This video represents documentaries from both the U.S. and Japanese governments surrounding the death of Yamamoto, the planner of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. His death was a planned assassination executed by USAAF on direct order of the President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This mission was planned by Major John Mitchell and executed by U.S. Army Air Force First Lieutenant Rex T. Barber, along with other pilots.

Fight for the Sky - United States Air Force WW2 Documentary Film
Some of the best air to air and air to ground combat gun camera footage all in one film.

More than you may ever want to know about Fighter jocks in Western Europe, from the lighter side to combat.
8th Air Force Fighter Command, Photographed by 3rd Combat Camera Unit
P-47 Thunderbolt’s, P-38 Lightning’s and P-51 Mustangs all included...
United States Department of the Air Force documentary film that details the air war between Allied fighter pilots and the German Luftwaffe over Western Europe during 1945.
This is a long film "41 minutes", but it may be of interest to fighter pilot veterans as it includes details on the ground and in the air. There is some Hollywood “close up editing” in cockpit footage, but this is a home front oriented film to keep moral up in the States and worth the record for the detail. Actual combat pilots my see some humor here.
