AAF-F W 23 CO on Final Pay Record - 07/25/2008 08:07:42 PM

I am trying to help a friend determine the unit his father served with during WWII. The final pay record lists "AAF-F W 23 CO" under the name. I believe this was supposed to be up in the Army Component. He had returned to US on Nov 15, 1945 It also shows previous organization (or place) as Ft Dix NJ and transfer date as 16 Nov 1945. Also, his rate was given as a T-5. Does any of this look familiar to anyone - the army component is a mystery to me.

It would be extremely helpful for me to learn the meaning of AAF-F W 23CO, as I am trying to order the military headstone for the family and the information needs to be correct.
