Does anyone happen to have an image they can send me of the 99th BG's wartime insignia?  We are trying to find a copy of the image used during the war, and before it was changed in the 50's (we have lots of copies of that image).  I bought a copy of the 1943 National Geographic that is supposed to have the insignia, but is has the blue and red Buffalo insignia for the 99th Bombardment Squadron shown. 
 
On the 99th BG website is a version of the insignia, which is the same as the later version only with the original "Fight with Might" motto.  We are trying to confirm if this was the actual wartime insignia or if there were any other differences besides the motto.
 
If no one has the image, is there anyone who lives in the Dayton, OH area that might be able to swing by the AF Museum and take a clear picture of the 99th BG's memorial?  The wartime insignia is supposed to be engraved on it but  we don't have a clear photo of the monument to make out what the insignia looked like.
 
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

marty, on the web site for the air force museum is a picture of the 99th BG memorial monument. i had emailed them a couple of years back that it was missing in their gallery of the memorials. they went out and took a picture and posted it. i have proudly used it as my screen saver ever since.        jonathan c kosharek  son of erwin j kosharek

Hey Marty,
Thanks to Mark Anderkin I have a few closeups of the group and squadron insignia as they appear on the memorial at W-P. I only need a chance to get to the file they are in and I should be able to have them to you no later than tomorrow, (2nd).
Also, many thanks for the MACR from footnote. It can through perfectly.

Thanks for the info guys.  I checked the AF Museum websight to see if I can make out the insignia.  To me it looks like the same as the later one with the eye in the upper left, a globe in the lower right, a cloud in the upper right and a lightning bolt running down from the cloud between the eye and the globe.  I can't make out which motto is inder it.  George, please e-mail me the photos when you get a chance.

Also George, you are welcome for the MACR.  I have written to Maxwell requesting copies of the four MACRs for the 99th that are not on Footnote.  Hopefully in a month or so I will be able to get them.  I have never requested more than one at a time before and have heard that such requests take longer to get responded to.
