Hello again, This is Sandy Clarence (Bud ) Souza's daughter. My Father was over in Bury St Edmonds with the 331st 8th AF 94th Bomb Group. He was a floatter as a gunner and was sent to over to Loesings plasne because they needed a gunner, on the Dutchess-AP# 42-97333 I am interested in crew of the 331st with Pilot MacIntoch and the Loesing last crew members when it went down Any other information would be great. I do know that my Fathers back was broken when the plane went down but he did pull out the crew...One was KIA Eight were POW's Dad was in Stalog Luft 4 and than went to Luft 1 as it got closer to the end of the war......Any other information would be great or other family members.... My Father is trying to record his memories of the war and as he does any information that he has I shall pass on... Again Thank you for all the wonderful jobs done by all who keeps the USA Not a War Zone..... Sandy

A thought. . .have someone who would like photos send you the blank CD's required for photos, with return postage, copy photos and return. Maybe too much work, but a thought.

If you have a photo of the "Elusive Elcy", #42-5888, I would love to see it! It was lost on 9/27/43 and was piloted by Harley G. Roberts. My uncle, SSgt Patrick Bolger was KIA on the mission and I'm researching everything I can about him and his crewmates. Thanks!! Margie

Gee, it must be, but it's listed as the "Elusive Elcy" in the list of planes shot down. I also found a website [heinzknokewebsite.com] that has pictures of it and references the Slater book. (Heinz Knoke was the German pilot that apparently shot it down!! It's listed as his "kill" #14. There's info about many other B-17's that he apparently shot down at the same website -- extremely detailed info is provided, including pictures and crew rosters. In fact, on the "Elusive Elcy" page, he provides a picture of it AS IT'S BEING HIT!!! Picture quality isn't good and you can't really see anything but it still freaked me out!!) I've been trying to find a copy of Slater's book but no luck so far. According to the Heinz Knoke website, the shooting down of my uncle's plane is referenced on pp. 92-93. On the picture on p. 67, can you see any numbers on the tail?? It must be the same plane -- how many planes could there have been with the word "Elusive" in the name??? Thank you so much for responding to my message!!
