86th AAT Bomb Squadron - 04/16/2006 03:51:52 PM
I am trying to find information out on what the 86th AAT was.  A man I am researching, Sgt. Aubrey Clyde Plott, was in this unit at Lake Charles AFB, LA, when on 8/15/1946 he was killed while either loading or unloading a bomb from an aircraft.  My 1st step is to find out what this unit was he was assigned to. I obtained this unit info from his gov't headstone.
My second step is to try and obtain any deceased personnel records that might be housed in Washington, D.C.
Sgt. Plott was a trained mechanic and had served in the ETO as such during the war in the 8th AF (unit unknown and of course, his records were burned up in the infamous 1973 NPRC fire in St. Louis).
Any help anyone can give me in this search would be greatly appreciated.
