Looking for info about my father's crew, his name is Edward Joseph Thompson , 455 grp , 742 squadron, he was B24 bombadier, his crew's pilot I believe was Robert Vern Schwabb, not sure of spelling, his plane's serial number had 44151 in it. Lost all his WWII photos after lending them to a so called friend for reprinting.

Sorry to hear about your photos... I hope you can get them back someday. I'll send what I have (check for a PM). The pilot was 2nd Lt Robert V. Schwab, and the aircraft you mention could have been 44-41151, which flew with the 742nd BS. Dave

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes... I have recently found a B/W glossy crew photograph with the words " 455th Bomb Group 742nd Bomb Squadron" on the back. The photgraph has a signature for each person The only signature I can make out for sure is above the third person standing left to right. The signature is: " Karl Anderson- Kansas City- Kansas ". I'd be guessing on the other signatures. The nearest other one I can make out is: " Bill Doyle (???)- Brooklyn N. Y. " The Date "1945" appears on the front top left corner. The crew is in front of an airplane but I see no nose art or other identifying words. Can anybody help me identify the crew/airplane or anything? Thanx, Allison

My dad was in the 455th BG and 742nd squadron also. I just logged onto this site today for the first time. I went and saw the traveling B-24 (and B-17 and B-25 also!) just this afternoon in Arizona. My dad got to fly the restored B-24 back in 1989 when it first started traveling. His name is on the side so I am always so proud to go and visit the plane when it travels through! My dad was the pilot back in 1944 when he first entered WWII.
