A/C 44-8518, with Lt Wagoner as deputy lead of the high squadron, called over VHF and wanted fighter support right after the Rally point. He had 3 engines feathered and was trying to make friendly territory. At 11:05 hrs, Wagoner called and asked for a fix and was given position of 7 miles north of Brandenburg. At 11:09 hrs, he again called for fighter support. Plane was last seen at coordinates  52*48'N, 13*50'E, time 10:55 hrs, altitude 26,600 feet, heading 222 degrees. 44-8518 crashed west of Lingen/Elms, Germany. All crew were KIA. (from E. Hinrichs "Missing Planes of the 452nd Bomb Group".
