60thTrCarrGrp Insignia

I started to post this on the 60thTCG page until I noticed that there isn't an awful lot of traffic over there, so thought I'd try the general category posting instead. I'm trying to locate the WWII insignia of the 60thTCG and was hoping someone might have an image tucked away somewhere. If so I'd sure appreciate hearing from you. Bob

The emblem in Combat Units was approved on 7 Sep 1955 and was not used during WW II. Bob, send me an address by PM and I'll send you a copy of a document labeled "SHEET NO. 7, WAR DAIRY 60th Troop Carrier Group, Gela West, Sicily, MONTH OF September 1943, Submitted by: CLARK G. MC CORKLE, 2ndLt.,Air Corps, Hqs 60th Troop Carrier Group" depicitng an emblem labeled 60th Trooop Carrier Group Insignia. It's obviously unofficial, and my copy is very low quality. Shows a cartoon winged airman with his right arm (red cross armband) down holding a package. His raised left arm holds a paratrooper with a rifle and map(?) and he is towing another airman behind him with a rope.

Grrrr. [rant] I cannot get my computer to recognize my new scanner so I can't send you a copy of the emblem. When I bought it the reviews seemed to connect installation problems with installing this all in one with networks. Since I wasn't going to use ethernet, I anticipated no problem with using the same USB connection I had used for my previous unit (by the same manufacturer). [/rant] Anyhow, the delay gave me some time to look at the emblem, which has been sitting in my emblem archives for years. I copied this emblem from historical files at the Military Airlift Command's historian's office years ago. Comparing the extracted page from the 60th Troop Carrier Group's history to other sources, however, it is apparent that despite the emblem's label as the emblem for the 60th Troop Carrier Group, it is not. It is the approved emblem for the 10th Troop Carrier Squadron, which was assigned to the 60th Troop Carrier Group at the time. Sorry to get your hopes up, but perhaps if anyone has what you want, at least they won't think I provided the answer.
