 492nd BS - Lady Be Good

492nd BS - Lady Be Good - 05/25/2005 11:11:07 AM
My father was a nose gunner on the B-24 "Lady Be Good" a part of the 492nd Bomb Squadron in India during World War II.  His name was Alvin McDaniel, from Texas.  I am hoping that someone might have known him. I believe I saw his picture with other Engineers in a picture on the B-24 Website.  If any of you might have information or photographs of the Lady Be Good, or my father, that would be wonderful.  Thank you all for your (or your father's) service.  I am currently a chaplain in the air force reserve a part of (get this) 10th Air Force!  At any rate, take care and God bless.

Here is a photo of your dad's plane.  It's serial number is 42-73074.  That's all I have...I've looked through all my data a can't find anything on your dad but will keep looking.  The man who contributed the photo of Lady Be Good was Don Rose of the 492nd.....as of last year, he was still living.  If you'd like his address, you might want to mail him a letter and see if he might have known your dad.  Do you know the names of any other crewmembers on your dad's crew?
