I am researching my uncle's service during WWII. His name is S.Sgt. Maurice Granger. On 20 March 1945, his plane "The Devil's Helper" (6B B-25J #327487) was shot down by German 88 mm fire while flying to hit targets in the Brenner Pass (Vipitino and Campo targets). He was the bombardier on the flight. From what I understand, the pilot 1st Lt. Edward Mack survived the crash and was taken prisoner by the Germans. All other crew members (Coniglio, Granger, McKinnon, Racette and Zawistowski), died. I am looking for any information as to the location of the crash and for any information that anyone may have that involves anything to do with my uncle. Also, is anyone familiar with the B-25 called "OH! KAY" ? I have a picture of my uncle and others in front of this plane, but it doesn't seem to be part of the 486thBS. I am new to this, an would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Greetings, Rick! A search of the MACR (Missing Air Crew Report) database on this site yields MACR # 13202. Click on the "Research" menu option on the upper right of this page to find out how to order the MACR. Also, the 57th Bomb Wing Association is working on including digitized 340th squadron histories on their website. I encourage you to join the association. You may end up with personal accounts of your dad from his brothers in arms. Also, you may want to search the growing 57th photo gallery for your dad and his plane. Good luck in your search! V/R VJ White p.s. Attached find an excerpt from the 486th March '45 squadron history. There's not much else in that particular file. However, use the link below to access other available 486th history files. http://57thbombwing.com/486th_History/486thtSquadronHistory.htm [image]local://upfiles/3990/C084E0B6F6A944CBAE34E0F9CE738A23.jpg[/image]

Hi Rick, I am wondering how your search for your uncle's plane is going? The reason I am interested is that I was recently contacted by a company that makes decals for model airplanes. I was asked if I could provide information (ie pictures, serial #, etc.) on B-25's that were stationed on Corsica. In doing my research, I came across a few pictures of the nose of your uncle's plane but I am unable to locate an pictures of the full plane. After reading about your search for information, I decided that I would like to submit information about his plane to this company if I can find some better photos. By the way, I am not associated with this company in any way and I don't stand to gain anything from this company other than the opportunity to use their decals. I'm just interested in the 57th BW. If you have any better pictures of his plane that you would be willing to share I would appreciated it. Thanks Chris
