47th BG Website - 06/05/2008 09:58:38 AM
To all interested in the 47th Bomb Group.

We are in the process of constructing a website dedicated to this group.

I am the Director of the Army Air Corps Library and Museum. One of the things we do is work with groups to help preserve their history.  We have had some great donations from one family that contains a lot of pictures and other paperwork that we will put into this effort.

I would like to enlist some of you to assist with the gathering and posting of information.

I'll provide more details as they become available.

Regards,

Robert Coalter

Robert ,
A Good Friend of Mine that recently passed away was in the 47th BG.
S/Sgt. Marion Karecki. He was a Gunner on the Lt. Terry Edmonds Crew
and later flew with other Pilots in the 85th and 97th Sqdns.
Flew 50 Missions 7/43 - 2/44
I have his Missions Log which is very Interesting , a Photo of him and His
First A - 20 B # 82.
I can send a copy if you would like to have it.

Mike,
That would be outstanding.
you can reach me at: rc@armyaircorpsmuseum.org

I also need to come up with group and squadron insignia for the website; we have an excellent A-2 with 97th SQ patch but abt 1/2 of the color is gone so that won't do.

Regards,
Robert

Oh dear, I have been building a web-site for the 47th Bomb Group for months. Have hundreds of pics, patches, documents on it. Father was A-20 pilot with 97th BS. Been to Reunion in Nashville. Made new 97th BS 5" patches, gave em out like candy to the guys there. Met my fathers turret gunner on his last 4 missions. I am still months from launching it, but it is a serious effort. I also am web-host to www.57thfightergroup.org. Both outfits were at Grosseto Italy at same time, bombing around the clock. Glad to see someone else interested in preserving memory/history of 47th BG for all. Regards, Mark O'Boyle
