435th Signal construction heavy Battalion WWII

Hi can anyone please help me with any information on this specific battalion?  My grandfather was Immaterial Branch Warrant Officer T-5 Earl T. Fairchild enlisted at Ft. Still 9-1942 trained at Camp Crowder 9-1942-12-1942 he was a lineman 238 of the 435th signal heavy construction battalion and was in the naples/faggio, rome/arno and north appenines campaigns. I know he was in Egypt and North Africa.  While in North Africa came in contact with British members of the 5th army. I can't find any info on the 435th anywhere on the web! I have typed it in google every way possible and nothing. It's not listed on any UNIT rosters with other Sgn Hvy Btns of WWII or of any unit of Camp Crowder!! The only sentence i have that mentions it from Official Army Air Corps records is this..

Work shifted to the north, where the 435th Signal Construction Battalion would build an eight-wir!!! e telephone pole line from Bengasi to Tobruk to serve the British Eighth Army and the Ninth Air Force." Please help

Oh hey I forgot to tell you that I saw a book called through the eyes of a signal corpsman: a diary of Charles Bowmanm.  It says that he was a member of the 435th Signal Construction Batallion 42-45.  Hoping I can find it somewhere!
