My uncle, William (Bill) Palmer, flew his B24 in a raid on Truk and had to crash land at an island airfield still under construction. There was a journalist on board that wrote about the flight but I can't seem to find the article. The AC# was 44-51113, number 113, "Mamy Yokum II". Anybody have any info about this? My uncle is deceased but I can put you in touch with his family. Thanks-Steve

Hi Steve;

Iâ€™m assuming your uncle survived the war?

Do you happen to know the pilots name, exact date and/or the month and year of the crash landing? If we can find the pilots name or date I can likely supply you with mission reports and MACR (if filed).

A majority of the 307th BG missions to Truk took place in the spring and summer of 1944. I have some color film of a 5th BG Truk raid posted on my Missing Air Crew Project web site at the following link.
