I noticed that in the aircraft list on the 381st website, that aircraft Serial #42-29803 didn’t have an associated nickname. As I have continued to research my uncle, Emery Horne’s, short time with the 533rd, I have come across its name. It was Flat Foot Floogie. It came from the 306th Bomb Group and joined the 381st on 11 September 1943. My Uncle, Carqueville crew, flew the plane 4 times from 9/23/43 to 10/8/43. It was the only aircraft lost by the 381st on the Sweinfurt mission of 14 October 1943. There is a picture of the aircraft on pages 100 & 101 of Martin Bowman’s, Castles in the Air (new addition published in 2000).
