384th - 544th bomb squad
-
11/28/2007 10:33:02 AM
I am looking for family or friends of the following airmen: Howard Burgoon, Victor Kress, David Wilmot, Tom Hunt, Edward Peckham, Roland Jenkins, Harold McFarland, Henry Ulmer, and George Ashworth. My grandfather was with them when they were shot down in France on June 26, 1943. I am hoping we can trade information, letters, photos, etc.

Thanks Daniel, I can even add to that! It was Tom Hunt and William Aguiar (my grandfather) that EE'd over the Pyrenees. Roland Jenkins EE'd for a while with the French until the Allied forces showed up in his town (I actually have his EE report). I was interested in finding them or their family in the hopes of sharing photos, stories, or letters that I have from some of their family to mine while the men were MIA. I recently found out that their plane actually did have a name - The Bad Penny. I have searched for that for years and only recently found it here: http://books.dreambook.com/f3red/new384thbg.html. This site is invaluable and is a great tribute to that generation. Thank you again and I will certainly appreciate any other help you may have.
