The photographer comments this shot: Crew chief, Bill Gertzan, gives Lt Robert Woody´s P-51 B WR-W 43-6520 ´Woody´s Maytag´ some routine maintenance on its Packard-built Rolls Royce Merlin engine. The swastikas on the fuselage show his mounting victories.
Found it at the book `Steeple Morden Strafers 1943-45` by Ken Wells, a very nice book about the history of 355th FG in GB.
