314th Transportation Sq, 31st Transportation Group, RAF Grove England

I am doing research on a burial at the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery that contains the remains of seven individuals who were on an aircraft flown by this unit on 23 May 1945. I cannot find a MACR or Accident Report and have emailed Lynn Gamma at Maxwell to see if anything is in the unit history. I have just received the Individual Deceased Personnel File on 1Lt Claude Weid but all it states is "killed in airplane crash". I did notice that he is memoralized on the WWII Memorial by his brother as a C-46/C-47 pilot. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Randy, here's an idea for further search: a C-46D of 314th TCS 31st ATG crashed in France on May 23rd 1945, pilot Rex L. Pond. A/C serial 44-77507. It's home base was Grove. There is an accident report for this serial.
More info about the pilot can be found at WWII Memorial.
