I would be very interesting in a reunion and speaking to members of the 38th and 819th, especially if they can tell me more about my great uncle, Eddie Myers.

My great uncle served with these groups in late 1943 and in 1944 as a tail gunner until his plane went down on take off from Betio,Tarawa.

I believe while in the 819 the plane was the "Galloping Gus" and in the 38th as "Poontang".

Any information, or anyone willing to chat about their time in that theater would be greatly appreciated.
