2nd Lt. Lloyd E. Gates was from Belmont Co. Ohio, report Killed on 7 June 1944, was faring troop to Normandy, France, he was in the 14th Squadron, 61st Troop Carrier group, missing in action, or buried at sea, If there is anybody out the that remembers him let me know, would like a picture of him and plane and crew also. He was my mother's cousin and the only thing I can find is that he was killed in a crash. Thanks Rick

Gates was drowned. Plane had to ditch and he made it out of the plane, but was unable to get to a raft. Send me your email address and I will send you copies of the reports. I will see if I can dig up some more.
