I am trying to find any information about my grandfather, 2Lt Lloyd John (Bud) Buechel, 0-80628. He was with the736th BS, 454th BG, 15th AF, 304th Wing. I was told he was on the Ira T McLaughlin, though he also flew a plane named Diane II. ANY information or photos would be greatly appreciated. My mother was only 6 months old when he was shot down and has always wondered about him. Thank you all for your efforts!!
Tony

Hello ! By my information your grandfather Loyd J Buechel was shot down on March 19 1944 flying as copilot on B-24 H 42-52229 " War weary Wanda ". The aircraft was shot down over village Ložice near Senovo in Slovenia. Location is about 70 km east of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia. As I know three crewmembers of your grandfathers plane bailed out and one of them Carl Lanier was later with help of Yugoslav Partisans transfered back to Italy. I hope this helps.
