This pilot got killed while flying an Airacobra in England. His plane crashed at Sealeber Force and he bailed out too low. Was he a member of 81 FG ? Which was the serial of the plane he was flying ? Dear Luc,
The Lancashire Aircraft Investigation Team has a story on its website about the crash of P-39 BX195 at Settle on November 22, 1942 flown by Lt. Cecil Rhodes.
A/C was originally delivered to the RAF but handed back to USAAF, flying with 1st FG at Goxhill.

The website you mentioned gives another date than the book by Stan D Bishop and John A Hey MBE " Losses of the US 8th and 9th Air Forces ". So me must try to go back to an 'original ' source...
