Hi.
You can find information in the www.mossie.org     forum.
I am interested in 25BG Mosquitos too because some of them have found their way to the Israeli Air Force via France.
I am researching the history of every Mosquito which has flown with the IAF.
Do you have details?

Hi;
I'm also interested in the Mosquito's from the 25th B/g, I'm interested in those that crashed around the Watton area, this is close to my own home where I have followed up on a few of the crash sites with records from the aircrafts.
any details you might have and could possibly share would be very helpful. perhaps I might have some thing of interest for you.

regards

Not sure whether this will help or not...it's a list of A/C crashes for the 25th BG (filtered by Mossies only).

Hello all:

I'm doing some research on a relative and former mossie pilot (my wife's grandfather).  He was a pilot with the 25th BG at Warton.  The text file attached above indicates he was invloved in a landing accident at Warton and that his aircraft was S/N NS635.  (440916   Mosquito XVI  NS635  653BSR  25BGR   LAC  4  Lee, Robert L   ENG Warton/Sta 582).

Attached are two photos: one of Capt. Robert Lee standing in front of his aircraft; another at the rear of what I assume is his aircraft (although the S/N appears to be -632, not -635).

What I'm really hoping to do is build a model of his exact Mk XVI, with accurate paint scheme, markings and s/n (I'll have to modify an existing kit, order some custom decals, etc.).  Is there any resource anyone is aware of where I can find info about this specific aircraft?  And also confirm the S/N?

Many thanks in advance.

Alex        this is NS635 in late June 1944; the D-Day stripes have been removed from fuselage and wing upper surfaces, still underneath both. It has the early 635th marking of white circle on tail (the red tails were added from about mid-August), but as luck would have it the highlights hide the aircraft letter in it.
Overall finish is RAF PRU blue with insignia blue spinners. The mission symbols are a variation of the squadron insignia, a mosquito in a cloud.
The under-wing tanks are blue(some were black).
Your other photo is NS632.                                       Regards    Nick

PS  there are some other posts on 25BG Mossies in the "Reconnaissance" forum.

Alex,

Color plates of several 25th BG (R) squadron color schemes can be viewed at  www.cbrnp.com/profiles/quarter2/mosquitos.htm

As to your NS635, per www.flexi.net.au/~bfillery/mosrefs.htm , a photograph of  NS635 can be found on page 44 of a book (Osprey Books ? - not specified but I supect it to be the publisher) "Mosquitoes in Action, Part 1".

A pretty fair model of a 653rd BS (R) Mosquito, NS519, can be viewed at  www.tricatus.co.uk/aa32807a.htm

Several photographs of this restored Mk. 35, (similar to NS519's Mk XVI) - an aircraft resident in the stable of the Air Force Museum collection, can be viewed at http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=3365
(see extracted image below to which full credit is given to the above listed URL).

Good luck in your search.

Andy
