24th Army Air Forces Glider Training Detachment

Hello everyone! I am new here, as I spend most of my time on the USMF site.

I am seeking information on the 24th AAGTD which was training in OK during WWII. I have one of the patches for this unit and would like to see what information is out there on it.

The 24th AAF Glider Training Det was activated 22 May 1942 at Okmilgee, OK and assigned to the AAF Gulf Coast Training Center.  The school was operated by Sooner Air Training Corporation).  I have no information on the det or school after 15 Mar 1943, and it was probably discontinued about that time along with most other AAF glider training dets.
Here's a link to the list of AAF Historical Studies that includes study No 1, which covers the glider pilot training program:

Bernies, thanks for the response. The patch I have came from the estate of a guy who trained there. He was in the last class to come out of there. I have a copy of the class log booklet that lists my guy.

Dad went through Deadstick training in Olkmukgee. Mostly in L-3s I believe. Then to Dalhart and Lubbock for Basic and Advanced Glider training. I have scanned his training school patch and posted it in the member photo galleries on this board.  Go about 2-3 pages back and look for the album of Paul Anderson.
