Greetings all

looking for info on Claude Crenshaw's "Heat Wave" - photo as well as his wingman Harold Tenanbaum's Stang - photo.  the pilots shot down 5 Fw 190's of JG 301 this date the other portion of the group may have intercepted JG 1's Fw's and made a real mess of the LW unit, but still researching this ........

many thanks

Erich,
On that mission, Crenshaw (Green  1) was flying his assigned a/c 44-15016 IV-I “Heat Wave”, a replacement for the earlier 44-13606 IV-I “Louisiana Heat Wave”.  He flew 44-15016 from 2 November 1944 to 30 November 44 when he completed his tour.  It was reassigned to Lt. Bryce H Thompson who renamed it “Li’l Audrey”.  Thompson bailed out of this a/c due to engine failure on 24 December 1944 over Belgium.   Tenenbaum (Green 2) did not join the 369th FS until 29 September 1944 and did not fly his first mission until 15 October 1944.  On the 21 November mission he was flying the a/c assigned to Lt. Thomas J Klem 44-15007 IV-Z.  Tenenbaum did not get his own assigned a/c until Grant Perrin finished his tour when his 44-14218 IV-X “X-Terminator” was reassigned to him.  44-15007 survived the war and was salvaged on 20 June 1946.   Photos show IV-I and IV-Z which is in middle of flight of three.   Hope this is what you are looking for.   Peter
