1st Lt. William L. Anderson

Looking for any information as to circumstances about death of 1st Lt. William L. Anderson. He was KIA during air ops while stationed in New Guinea 9/43.He was attached to the 35Th fighter Group and flew both the P39 and the P38. I'm not sure which aircraft he was flying at the time of his death. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

I am not sure this is the same man or not.  There is a grave in the East Cemetery of Manchester, CT for
    Anderson, William L, b. c.1920, d. Sep 13 1943, age: 23, WWII, 1st Lt. 35th Fighter Sq
    http://www.interment.net/data/us/ct/hartford/east/east_a.htm
This puts him the the 35th Fighter Squadron (not the 35th Fighter Group).  The 35th Fighter Squadron was part of the 8th Fighter Group.    There are no scores listed for William L Anderson listed that I could find.

The 1930 Census for  Hartford  -  Bristol City  2-106
William Anderson  step son   11 years old
    Father:  Gue (Gus?) A Carlson
    Mother: Lovena  (Lorena?)   E Carlson
    Francis W Carlson  Son

The 1920 Census for New Britain City, Ct   lists:
Lorena Anderson living with her brothers, William Webster,  and Francis Webster and she appears to
have a son William Anderson who is 1 year and 7/12 months old.

The US Casualty Lists published by State after the war at:
             http://media.nara.gov/med...ges/28/27/28-2612a.gif
shows listed under under the  State  of CT at Large.

    William L Anderson,      01699387   DNB

This says he died of not-battle causes.  He may have died of malaria or  dengue  fever, there was a lot of
    that in New Guinea.

This link has a little background on the 35th Fighter Squadron.
