My father was pilot in 12th AF; 439 BS; 319 BG and was flying out of Bastia on 10-dec-44 as co-pilot when his plane (43-36216) Battle Number 60; MACR # 10384 was shot down by Me 109's while attacking the San Michele Rail Road Bridge, Brenner Pass. (319th Mission #471). Lost were the Pilot-1st Lt. Herman; Co-pilot-1st Lt. Stephens; Pizzoferrato; Stodghill; two other men who were listed as crew were: Gosney and Smith. I know that Gosney was able to parachute out and was taken prisoner by the Germans. He corresponded with my mother when he was able. I have only recently been able to gather this information from an email to me from Norway. By any chance (longshot) is there anyone out there who might possible remember Lt. Royce E. Stephens? I would appreciate any replies. Thanks Larry M. Stephens
