Just to introduce myself, I'm the Son of a Radioman that spent the time from 8 Apr 42 to 2 Dec 42 in the A.P.T.O. (Phillipines-Australia) where he survived this crash.
http://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/b-17/41-24428.html and also took the photos.
After R&R stateside, including medical treatment for broken teeth & shrapnal wounds, he went to England. 25 Aug 43 until 11 Oct 45
I have photos that tell me Scotland and Blackburn England, PLUS Flight records for Dec 44/Jan 45, showing AAF 519, 302nd T....87thT. Squadron.
Ok, I can see how a battle scared veteran Radioman might get some comfort rides with a Cargo Group, but Ten months later, he's Mustered Out as a Memeber of the 352nd Fighter Squadron. What's up with that?
I'm looking for ANY referrence to MSgt Elvin Thomas "Spec" Hart , with ANY of the groups listed. I can see him flying in Bombers & Cargo planes, but as a Com officer for the Fighter group
