19th BG, 93rd BSq - Sgt Edward R. Kukla - 06/24/2008 04:51:31 PM
I'm trying to research some information on my Grandfather, Ed Kukla.  In his time with the 20th Air Force he was a Tail Gunner with the 73rd and 314th Bomb Wings.

I have found some information on his time with the 73rd; he was with the 499th BG, 877th BSq on V16 - "Beats Me II".  I have not found out a whole lot of information on his time with the 314th.  I know that he was with the 19BG, 93rd BSq and recieved his extraction orders on 23 May 1946 when he was transferred to "Crew #3 Ship #H-57" to fly to Oahu.

If anyone knew him (he passed away on April 14th of this year), flew with him or might have any other information/pictures, please let me know.

Thank you-
Ken Proctor

Mike-

Thanks for the suggestion.  I couldn't find much there though, I'm actually a member of the Yahoo group that the b-29.org site is linked to.  So far, I can't even find any more information on the B-29 that he was on with the 499th, and I already know the tail number of that one.  I have less information to work with on his time with the 19th.

I guess I've just got some more digging to do.

Ken:
Have you tried contacting Robert Mann, he knows B-29s and he is a member of this forum.

Ken,

Have you contacted the folks at the 19th BG Association?  They may be able to assist.  http://www.19thbg.org/home.htm
