Hello all. Im trying to find out as much as i can about my great grandfather's time in the war. He kept a lot of flight records and other things that i have. I have a list of crew members he flew with. I just would like to know what else i could find out. Maybe find some pictures. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Crew Member Names Kinnamon, Virgil Cheesman, Nathan Davidson, Leslie Vasseur, Edmond Sherer, Ned I just took notes off of all the flight records and packets of info i had but these two gentlemens names popped up as crew memebrs. I dont know if these are two people he trained with. But i dont believe they were on the flight missions log i have. Byron Spees Rudolf Madsen Thanks for any help you can give.

I have some history on the 11th on my website as well as links to a couple of sites that may be of interest to you: CBI Unit Lineages & History: http://www.cbi-history.com History/photos of the 11th BS: http://www.angelfire.com/ma/MONGELL/photohist1.html I'm always seeking additional historical information for my website (unit/personal histories, photos, copies of orders, etc), so if you have anything you'd like to contribute, I'd be grateful. Hope this has helped some. Gary

Hey thanks a lot, seems like a lot of good reading. When i get home from work ill have to give that one web page a hard look. (CBI-History.com) I saw on the one web page they had official mission reports. Im in the process of requesting for all my grandfathers Military records, would this include Official mission reports? If not how do i get a hold of those....if i can. And ya I have tons of stuff at my house if you want to see them i dont see a problem in that at all. I believe my grandfather got his hands on all the flight records and took them home with him when he wasnt supposed to. Ha...because a lot of teh stuff i have says confidential and restricted on it. I dont know if hes supposed to have all the flight records. Like itll show all his flights and where they went to bomb. I just dove into trying to find out as much as i can and i have a lot of reading already. So excited ha. I have a couple neat things he brought back with him. A cloth map of the CBI. A silk scarf he got from somewhere over there. It looks chinese so thats where im assuming its from. I just wish my great grandfather talked about his missions to me when i was younger.(he passed when i was 14) He didnt speak to anyone about them but i guess he left enough stuff behind for us to find out as much as we needed to. Thanks again for your help.

I'm glad to help. The process for requesting personnel records and unit histories are on the "Research" tab at the top of this screen. There is info on requesting records and unit histories there (thanx to our exhaulted webmaster for this amazing resource!). I'm glad to hear that your grandfather saved so much. If you want, you can email me directly and we can discuss any items you'd like to provide for my website. Cheers, Gary

Rudolph (Rudy) Madsen was Staff Sergeant Armorer Gunner. He alternated between turret and waist guns. Assigned to 491st BS. What is your great grandfather's name? Maybe I have some info on him.
