1 Lt Bell De Witt T. 361 FS KIA 20 March 1944 over Belgium - 01/10/2007 03:14:23 AM
Gents,
I'm looking after some information about the loss of P-47 serial 42-75553 361 FS, pilot 1 Lt Bell De Witt T. KIA in Belgium on 20 March 1944.
I'm also looking after his first burial and actual burial place!
Can somebody help me?
Greetings from Belgium,

Alexander

Alex
this was VIII FC F / O 275 and the 356th 's mission 75.
No RV with the bombers as they turned back. The group strafed in Belgium and France ; Bell and Capt. F.S.Porter were shot down by flak at a field NE of Brussels. Porter was captured, Bell KIA.
4 others were lost to weather; Tuckey KIA, Maupin evaded, Garvey and McCullough captured. Only one air claim by mission leader Lt.Col. Malmstrom (Me109).                           Salut    Nick

Thanks,
1 Lt DeWitt T. Bell and Cpt Fred Porter were supposed to have been shot down while strafing flak towers. They probably have been shot by the FLAK of the airfield of Saint-Trond, after liberation... airfield A-92.
I'm investigating the crash of Maupin and it's evasion.
I can't find a burial place for 1 Lt De Witt Bell????????
